BARNES, HARVEY, 79, of Sherman, Texas (formerly of Wichita), retired General Electric Field Service Representative, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris, Harvey was born in Mahoney, Texas to John A. and Leona Barnes, one of 7 children. He served in the Army Air Corps and after a stint in the Korean War, as crew chief of the P-38 Aircraft, he began his career at Convair in Ft. Worth, Texas. While working for General Electric, Jet Propulsion Division, he was sent to various parts of the world and many different cities in the United States including Rapid City, S. Dakota, Memphis, Tennessee, Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Wichita, Kansas. He served in Vietnam in 1966 as civilian tech support to Air Force U.S.A. Harvey was a devoted husband and father who made friends all over the world that quickly became as family to him. He considered himself to be blessed and fortunate, Even after losing his wife of 40 years and then having a disabling stroke in 1999. His outlook on life and his sense of humor remained positive and inspiring to those around him in spite of his struggles. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Becky Barnes of Garland, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Corky Branda of Wichita, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Kathryn and Alex. Service is being held at Laurel Land in Dallas, Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday. Dallas Laurel Land 214-371-1336
