~*In Loving Memory*~

My very first memories of my grandmother Mary, were when I was about 3 or 4 years old. She lived with us and we shared a bed. I always had cold feet. She would always let me put my feet against her so they could get warm...and she'd say...Oh! those cold icy feet, get them off of me...and laugh and say, no you can keep them there, get over here and let me warm you up. She nicknamed me "Lady Bug," as I was always collecting them and putting them in glass jars, with holes punched in the lid. She was always very loving and kind to me. Years later she moved to Trumann, Arkansas, and married Jim Faulkner. Our family would go nearly every summer to visit them. They lived many happy years there. It was always fun to visit as my parents let me have a lot more freedom there in that little town...I used to play with the Rutherford children that lived on that street, "Smith Street," I have often wondered whatever happened to them, they were great kids and we had so much fun. They grew watermellons and I loved them. It's so sad that we lost touch.

Each summer my grandparents had a garden, with wonderful things to eat; okra, green beans, brussels spouts, bell peppers, huge tomatoes, and a wonderful plum tree that I have never tasted any like those since. She always made the best dinners. The neighbors exchanged some of the things that they grew and it was a happy time. My grandma, had the cutiest laugh, and always smiling. In 1964, at age 75, she came out to California, so that she could go to my wedding and stayed for a visit. While she was here she broke her hip. After it was repaired she used a wheelchair and walker. Several months later she returned home. After many months of hard work and determination, she walked again without the use of wheelchair or walker...she was an amazing lady. After we had children we went to visit her, as I wanted them to meet my precious grandmother, it was a wonderful time. My grandmother was a sweet soul, that lived a long and good life. On August 24th, 1980, my sweet grandmother suffered a stroke and she was called home, where she now resides with our Lord and all her family. She would have been 92 years old the following March. Until we meet again, I love and miss you...your Lady Bug Xo Xo
