Selma was born on a farm outside of Charlotte, Iowa, to Chris and Agnes Schroeder Michaelsen.

She married Raymond Bruse on Nov. 22, 1939. They farmed at rural Green Island until 1967 when they moved to Preston. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Ruth Circle. She moved to Maquoketa Care in 1992.

She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran in the class of 1953.

Selma is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Sharon) Driscoll, Preston; Julie Bruse, Clinton; Donna Colvert, Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Richard and Alyn Kimble of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura Bruse, Maquoketa and a brother, Calvin Michaelsen, of Clinton.

Burial was Thursday, Sep. 23, 1993 in the Miles Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rex Beck, Joel Bormann, Bill Michaelsen, Kevin Reuter, Bruce Yaddor and Aaron Betts.
