Guy Junior Killingsworth, of Springfield, Mo., departed this life on Saturday, January 14, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South with his family by his side at the age of 67 years. He was born on April 2, 1938, in Lockwood, Mo., to Guy and Oletha L. (Lovely) Killingsworth. Guy graduated from Greenfield High School in 1956 and went on to attend Rolla School of Minds. He was united in marriage to Delma Jean Hagerman on March 11, 1967, in Springfield, Mo., and to this union three children were born, Paula, Tom and Karen. Guy retired from the United States Army and the United States Postal Service. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Guy was the present State Commander of Military Order of the Purple Heart and Past Chapter Commander of Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 621 of Springfield. Guy bravely served his family, friends and country in the United States Army for 24 years. He was stationed in Korea and Germany, and also served a tour in Vietnam. Guy was awarded numerous ribbons and medals during his tenure with the military. Among these awards and decorations, he received a Silver Star, Bronze Star with a V Device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with Seven Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Infantrymens Badge, and many other Campaign medals. He took considerable pride in his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He is loved dearly by his family and will be missed. Preceding him in death was his father, Guy Killingsworth, on May 20, 2001; and two infant sisters. Survivors include his loving wife, Delma Jean Killingsworth, of the home; one son, Thomas Guy Killingsworth and his wife, Laura, of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Paula Denise Daniel and her husband, Chris, of Lockwood, Mo., and Karen Kay Killingsworth, of Springfield, Mo.; his mother, Oletha Killingsworth, of Greenfield, Mo.; two sisters, Laquita Gakle, of Greenfield, Mo., and Ardella Lack, of Greenfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Zachary Daniel, Trey Daniel, Emily Daniel, Kaylee Daniel, Travis McGuire, Kaitlyn Killingsworth, and one grandson on the way; one aunt, Glenadine McGuire, of Greenfield, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 621 of Springfield, St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Greenfield, or to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Springfield.
