Robert Mackey Carter, age 59, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born December 26, 1954 in Illinois to C. Maxyne Carter and the late Lee W. Carter. Robert earned his Masters Degree in Microbiology and served as professor for several universities, including Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. He was passionate about his work in the medical field which involved cancer/oncology research, was a published writer in research publications throughout the country, and traveled to many countries around the globe.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Allen McGraw officiating.
Robert is survived by his mother, Claire Maxyne Carter of Water Valley, MS; one brother, Harold "Gene" Carter (Ellen) of Nineveh, IN; one sister, Susan Reed of Carbondale, CO; two nieces and three nephews.
