Samuel Russell Goff, 85, of Moss Point, MS, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in Moss Point. Mr. Goff was born on November 20, 1928, in Vancleave, MS to the late, Oscar and Dora Goff. He worked for International Paper Company for over 40 years and will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping on the river. He also enjoyed Blue Grass and being surrounded by his family. He will continue to be loved and missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goff was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Cumbest and two brothers, Curtis Goff and Lawrence Goff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lydean Goff; daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Hinrichs, Cynthia (Ronald) Pierce and Kristi (Jay) Boykin; grandchildren, Cherie (Carl) Mothershead, Brandi (Stacey) Vise, Russell (Tara) Goff, Ann (Nick) Fallo, Meghan (Chuck) Tanner, Jayson (Rachael) Boykin, Samuel Pierce, Bradly Boykin, Joel Pierce, Christina (Adam) Hudson and Megan Hinrichs; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Edward Goff; along with other family and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Goff was held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Community of Christ Church in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral followed at the church at 10:00 a.m. with Elder Betty Sue Boykin and High Priest Donald Hamm officiating. Interment was held in the Community of Christ Church Cemetery in Escatawpa, with Mr. Goff's grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Fallo and Adam Hudson. Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
