Ed's birth certificate and WWI registration have his given name of Levey. His WWII registration shows Leavey, similar to how his Uncle Daniel, also at Mount Olivet, changed his last name.

The Levey's, Frydendall's and other came from Holland in the late 18th and early 19th century to New York City, then to Albany and the Mohawk Valley and then to Kane County, Illinois in the mid 19th century. They were predominantly Dutch Reformed and later Congregationalist, Methodist and Baptist, depending on their favorite circuit rider.

Everything I have heard or read about Ed and Tilly is that they were the salt of the earth, kind and generous in everything.
