Fr. Joy, as he was known, Francis Xavier Chrysostom was ordained a Catholic priest in Rome on December 21, 1960. He was pastor at St. Mary's Cathedral in his native Ceylon before coming to America in 1975. Starting in 1989, he served as a chaplain at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood, California.
