Funeral services were held at a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for Benedict Andrew Blanco, 19, who died Thursday, January 2, 1997 in Amelia, Louisiana, as a result of a tragic work-place accident.

A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Ben was the son of Raymond S. Blanco and Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. He was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School in the Class of 1995 and he was a student at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Ben was chairman of the group formed to reorganize the USL Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Ben was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was very proud of his mother, and had always dreamed of following in her footsteps.

Ben was survived by his parents, four sisters, one brother, one niece and his maternal grandparents.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gumersindo Blanco and Mary Locascio Blanco.
