Helen was the first of four children born to Charles Henry More and Fannie Cornell More. She was raised at Hobart where her father was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. Helen was a member of the Hobart High School graduating class of 1932 when she became ill in the spring. What was thought to be influenza rapidly developed into encephalitis.
