David W. Blankenship
David Walter Blankenship, 75 of New Richmond, died
Wednesday July 15, 1992 in a Beckley Hospital,
following a long illness.
Born Jan 8, 1917 at Saulsville, he was the son of the
late Gideon and Rebecca Pendry Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship was a retired coal miner having
last worked for Itmann Coal Company, was a member of the
UMWA and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
He was a member of the New Richmond Chapel where he
was a former Sunday School Superintendant, Trustee
and Treasurer.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Frankie Powell
and four brothers; five sisters.
Survivors include his wife Mabel Richards Blankenship.
Three sons Walter David Blankenship of Fredricksburg Va.
Dallas Blankenship of Huntington and Georgetown Ky.
Robert Blankenship of Elton N.C. Two daughters; Judith
Blankenship Lester of Elkin and Janet Blankenship
of New Richmond. Two brothers Merle Green of Itmann
Paul Green of Fairdale; Two sisters Gay Gill of
New Richmond, Dicie Woods of Baltimore Md. 10 Grand
Children.
Services were 11 am Friday at the New Richmond Chapel
with the Revs. Ronald Adkins, Alfred Laxton and Larry
England officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens
Prosperity WV. Nephews served Pallbearers.
