Charles was the first of six children born to George McClellan More and Fannie Elizabeth Barlow More. He was raised at Hobart, near Stamford, where his father was first a marble dealer and later the owner and operator of a dairy farm. Charles married to Fanny Cornell on 9 May 1912 at High Falls, New York. They made their home at Hobart where he was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. They relocated to Fly Creek, near Cooperstown, about 1934 where he was self-employed in the dairy and chicken business. He and his wife relocated to Pierstown, on the west side of Otsego Lake, about 1953. Charles was a member of the Cooperstown Methodist Church and Pierstown Grange. Charles and Fanny were the parents of four children; Helen Mary More, Ruth Elizabeth More, Dorothy Mae More, and Avery George More.
