He was born April 3, 1929 in Thomasboro, the son of Fred and Pearl Keith Maier. He married Betty Lou Vickroy on Nov. 23, 1963 at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcola. She survives.
He is also survived by his sister, Helen Fortney; several nieces and nephews and a great-niece, Bailey Jean Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Maier and two sisters, Lorene Sears and infant Eula Maier.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned home to farm. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1994.
