George is the son of the late Vernon George Sneed and Sally Otter Jackson.
George retired after 33 years as a Telephone Repairman and was involved in community organizations which include, 20 years as the Cherokee Volunteer Fire Chief, 8 years as a member of the Cherokee School Board, member of the Tribal Utilities Commission and the NC Rescue EMS Association of Rescue. Along with his parents George is preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Robert Sneed and Butch Jackson; one sister, Mary West.
George is survived by his wife Kitty Sneed; children, Sonny, Leonard, Shane, Josie, Arlene, Buck and Sammi all Cherokee; one brother Richard Sneed; aunts, Priscilla Cooper and Virginia Dickson; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Rocksprings Baptist Church from 5pm-12am (midnight). The funeral service will be held on Sunday May 4, 2014 at Rocksprings Baptist Church starting at 2pm, burial will follow at the Cam Sneed Cemetery with the Cherokee Volunteer Fire Dept. serving as Pall Bearers.
