Funeral services for Ruth Ann (Newton) Williams are set for 3 PM, Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at the Madisonville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee. Scott Sitton, Chaplain for Traditions Hospice will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ruth Ann Williams was born on June 13, 1938 in Normangee, Texas. Her parents were Marvin & Lorene (Taylor) Newton. She was raised in Leon County and moved to Grimes County where she lived for over 50 years. In her lifetime, Ruth worked at several places. She worked for Orman's Dry Goods in Madisonville over 10 years and the Rockin Chair General Store in Iola for many years. Ruth retired from the Walmart store in Madisonville where she welcomed and greeted many a person to the store with a smile and a kind word. Ruth was also known for her hats that she always wore and also collected. She had many hobbies which included arts and crafts,quilting, sewing, and collecting material. Ruth also loved to read. She was a friend to many people and will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth passed away on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at the Madisonville Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lydia Dale; husband, James Williams and recently by her brother, Ross Newton. Survivors include: her brother-in-law,Joe Denman of Iola; sister-in-law, Lois Jeanette Newton of Flynn; nephew, Huey Lynn Denman and wife, Margaret of Iola; nieces, Pam Newton of College Station, Doris Ewing and husband, Rodney of Robbins, Mary Lois McRee and husband, Clint of Leona, great nephews, Drew Denman of Iola, Jeremy McRee of Centerville; great nieces, Callie Wood and husband, Cody of Centerville, Cassie Hall and husband, James of Oakwood, Allisen Ewing of College Station, Sara Ewing of Robbins; one great-great niece, four great-great nephews; and special friends, David & Eva Jean Callaham; Dave & Crystal Callaham and Trey and Delaney of Madisonville. Serving as pallbearers are Dave Callaham, G. H. Gentry, Cody Wood, Rodney Ewing, Ira Betts and Scott. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Morgan, Tray Callaham, Chuck Adams, Clint McRee, James Hall, David Callaham,Jeremy McRee, Duane Donahoe and Gene Gentry.
