Criminal. He was a notorious member of the Hells Angels biker gang. On December 6, 1969, he killed audience member Meredith Hunter at the Altamont Speedway in California, during a concert by the Rolling Stones. The Hells Angels biker gang had been hired by the Rolling Stones to work security at the concert. Passaro was arrested and charged but he claimed self-defense and he was later accquitted. He was found dead floating in the Anderson Reservoir with $10,000 in his pocket in 1985. The story was the focus of the 1970 film, "Gimme Shelter," and is also the focus of an urban legend that states that the song, 'Sympathy For The Devil,' was playing during the murder, but it was 'Under My Thumb,' that was playing.
