John Lee Henning, 77, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, Anderson, IN. He was born on March 2, 1937 in Marion, Grant County, IN. He was the son of Samuel Fred and Mary (Williams) Henning.

He graduated from Sweetser High School with the Class of 1955. John worked for many years for Woolworth Department Stores, working his way up to General Manager serving in several areas in the Midwest. Most recently he worked at Struch Brother's Hardware, Anderson. He spent most of his adult lifetime in Marion and Anderson areas.

He is survived by 3 children, Sam (Glori) Henning, Gas City, Brian Henning, California and Theresa Henning, Goreville, IL; 1 granddaughter, Jenise Henning, Gas City; 1 sister, Sarah Howard, Columbia City and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Jack Frederick Henning, who died in 1968.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Hospital Protestant Chapel, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion. Graveside committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the National Cemetery, Marion, with graveside military rites being conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.
