Senior Constable Ashley Paul Anderson was the grandson of former Queensland Deputy Police Commissioner Fred Palethorpe. He was a dedicated young officer, extremely popular with his colleagues, freely giving of his time to help young people in the community and was showing promise of making a significant contribution to policing in the State.
A member of the former Task Force, Senior Constable Anderson transferred to Broadbeach when it was disbanded and, on 26 June 1987, was tragically killed in a head-on collision on the Nerang-Broadbeach Road at Carrara on the Gold Coast. He was aged 29 at the time.
