He was the husband of Mary Miley Ackerman.
He was born in Cottageville, a son of the late Joseph Ackerman and Isabelle Saunders Ackerman of Colleton county.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Miss Donna June Ackerman of Charleston; and three sisters, Mrs W E Carter, Mrs Thomas Gohogan, and Mrs Raymond Parker, all of Walterboro.
