David Lee Sundquist, 64, of Frederick Colorado went home to his Lord & Savior on Thursday, April 24, 2014. He passed away gracefully at Life Care Center in Longmont, Colorado.
He was born in Douglas, Wyoming on July 9, 1949, to the late Maxine and Rodney Sundquist at the Infirmary Camp. Dave graduated from Douglas High School in 1967 and went on to attend a year at the University of Wyoming. He married Barbara June Good the following year on June 28, 1968.
Dave and Barb moved to Casper, Wyoming where Dave continued his education at Casper College. While in Casper, Dave worked as a "tire buster" for Montgomery Ward and for Hoeppner's Standard before returning to Douglas. Dave worked side-by-side with his dad at Rogers Ford, before going to work at DeGaugh Well Service & Drilling and finally at Link Oil Company until his health required him to retire in 2006.
Dave could frequently be found in the garage building and rebuilding his 1968 Chevelle. He began his drag racing career at the Douglas International Raceway in 1985 and continued until 1993. However, that did not stop his love of the track, as he continued to work as the tower operator until 2001. Dave also loved the sport of golf. And, although he played nearly every day he still could not quite perfect his hook.
Dave is survived by his wife Barb of Frederick; his son Joe (Michele) Sundquist of Conifer, Colorado; daughter Jacque (Ryan) French of Frederick; and by his four beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail, Elena and Grady.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
