A Funeral Service for John Colman Hawkins of Cotter, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 28, 2014, at Riverside Church of Christ, Gassville, AR, with Brother Tim Martin officiating.

John passed away April 22, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. He was born July 30, 1920, in Blue Springs, Missouri, the son of Ralph and Ruth Rohrs Hawkins. He married Josephine "Jo" Lorina on February 4, 1957, at Las Vegas, Nevada. John was a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. John worked as a Foreman for SPS Western Standard Press Steel and lived in Cotter since1979, moving from Costa Mesa, California. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with family, friends and neighbors and his beloved dog, Jolo.

John is survived by his daughter, Sharlea (Jim) Franklin of Elbow Lake, MN; son, John C. Hawkins, II of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Gina (Brian) Conkle of San Diego, CA, William (Shannon) White of San Diego, CA, Jamie (Derek) Schonewill of Burnsville, MN and Jodi (Ryan) Rau of Rochester, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Clay, Hayden, Chad, Natasha, Alexa and Brooke and his beloved dog, Jolo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Josephine "Jo" Hawkins, and brothers and sisters, Ken, Howard, Ralph, Lauranna, Elberta and Roberta.

Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, AR,with U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
