Thomas R. Johnson
Died- April 21, 2014
Thomas R. Johnson, 71, of Saint Clair, died Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Saint Clair, April 13, 1943, he was a son of the late Milton and Jean Peifer Johnson.
He was a graduate of Saint Clair High School and Ursinus College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English.
Tommy had worked several years ago as an administrative aide to the late state Sen. Fred Hobbs and then was the immunization program director for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Saint Clair.
Thomas was the last member of one of the founding families of Saint Clair.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Jane Reese; and many good friends.
A world traveler, Tommy was very active in numerous Masonic organizations. He held the top leadership positions in many of the groups. Tommy always had his tuxedo packed and ready to go as he and Jane enjoyed traveling to meetings and conferences throughout the Northeast and Canada. His calendar was filled with Masonic meetings almost every night of the week.
But home was always most important to this lifelong resident of Saint Clair. Tommy and Jane met monthly for lunch and dinners with Club 61, a group of high school friends.
Just as he brought so much joy to others, Tommy was blessed with many true friends who shared their lives with him.
Tommy was a member of the following Masonic and Fraternal organizations: past master of Anthracite Lodge 285 and Pulaski Lodge 216; past high priest of Mountain City Royal Arch Chapter 196; past commander/past division commander of Constantine Commandery 41; past thrice illustrious master of Regal Council 65; past sovereign of Mary Conclave-Red Cross of Constantine; past preceptor of Gallicantu Tabernacle-Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests; past prior of Penn Priory 6 York Cross of Honor; past excellent chief of Knight Masons; a member of The Operatives, Keystone Freimaurer Mark Lodge, Rajah Shrine — past president of the Schuylkill Shrine Club; a member of the Hillbillies; a member of the Past Master's Club Schuylkill Forest 50-Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Royal Order of Scotland; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Bloomsburg; Royal Arch Chapter and Commandery 196; Ivanhoe Commandery of Mahanoy City 31; Veritas Council AMD; Schuylkill Council AMD; Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem; International Order of the Odd Fellows-Mineral Lodge 285; Grand College of Rites; PA York College Rite No. 11; Associate Regent, William Allen York Rite College 182; Sir Thomas of Acon Society, Pilgrim Chapter 11; Masonic society; Patriotic Order of Sons of America, W.C. 75; Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War; PHILALETHES; Lebanon County Shrine Club; and Rajah Shrine of Blandon.
