Arnese Lavern Allen, 70, of Old Salem died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at her home. Funeral services was at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Wilkinson Cemetery in the Pine Grove Community in Newton County. A native of Pine Grove, she had lived in the Old Salem Community 31 years and was a retired secretary for the Newton School District at the Bleakwood School. Survivors include her husband, Dow Allen of Old Salem; two daughters, Sandy Allen of Kirbyville and Julia Vandiver and her husband John of Buna; 4 grandsons, Ova Duhon, Bryan Duhon, Ethan Duhon, and Joseph Vandiver; one granddaughter, Randi Duhon; and one great granddaughter, Breanna Bendo. Arnese was the youngest of 3 known children born to Leah Odom & 1st husband, Austin Wilkinson, Jr.
