CATHERINE M. HICKS, 90, of Cowesett Road, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Kent County Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Harvey E. Hicks. Born in Hailfax, Nova Scotia, Canada, a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Ann (Walsh) Spencer, she came to the United States in 1920 and moved to Warwick in 1950. Mrs. Hicks was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
She participated for many years in the Foster Grandparents Program at the Ladd School, Pontiac School, and St. Francis School.
She leaves a son, Leonard H. Hicks of Cranston; six daughters, Barbara M. Silvia, Ruth E. Yehle, Mary Ann Chalifoux, Donna Jean Rose, all of Warwick, Ella M. Assalone of Coventry, and Pauline C. Taylor of Cranston; and 26 grandchildren and 38 great- grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John and James Spencer, and Sally Williams.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. from Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. Burial will be in Springvale Cemetery, East Providence.
