Thank you to JonBuff for all of his help in providing clarification that Malinda Powell Buffenbarger's husband is Salmon Buffenbarger. He has been listed under several names, variations of Salmon: Solomon, Sol, Sal, and Simington, which the last also being the name of Salmon's brother. Jon's clarification was helpful in linking Melinda Heare Buffenbarger to the correct man as her husband. The brother Simington had remained single and lived his entire life on the Buffenbarger farm according to Jon. Also, a thank you for his help in identifying properly the photo of William Watson Buffenbarger. He also provided marriage info on both Melinda and Malinda, as well as thru his help and other cousins the children info of both women has been validated.

NOTE: We believe Malinda Powell Buffenbarger Herrick is buried in the Buffenbarger family cemetery in Pitchin, Clark County, Ohio but since many stones have been destroyed over time her exact location of burial cannot be determined at this time. She is likely buried near her husband.

Also a bit if interesting family history told by JonBuff is that Sal had served as a Civil War doctor and a cousin does have his sugical instruments. They do not know in what capacity he served in the war.
My thought is that this may be how the Buffenbarger and Powell families came to know the Heare family. Jonathan Heare was a confederate soldier who had been shipped to Springfield, Clark County, Ohio. Needing medical attention it may likely have been Dr. Sal Buffenbarger who attended to the needs of Jonathan Heare. In so doing when Jonathan Heare brought his family to Springfield at the end of the war William Hon Powell met and married Cora S. Heare, Melinda Heare met and married William A. Buffenbarger, the son of Sal and Malinda. Melinda Heare Buffenbarger, known as Aunt Lindy in our family line, introduced William Watson Buffenbarger to Sarah Jane Powell, daughter of John Briggs and Caroline Hon Powell and sister to William Hon Powell. They then married.
William Hon and Cora Heare Powell were the parents of Alice Roosevelt Powell who went to school with and later married Ralph Irvin Steinberger. They had my mother Meriel Anna Steinberger who met and married Robert Leroy Sterling, my parents.
