Florence Powell, 82, of 505 Main St., Carrollton, died Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 26, 1913, in Madison, the daughter of William M. May and Julia Skidmore. She was a restaurant owner and operator for 40 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Corine Welch of Carrollton and Julia Ashcraft of Ghent, Ky.; one son, Richard McDowell of Nicholasville, Ky.; one brother Paul C. May of Milton; two sisters, Daisy Sanders and Dorothy Willett, both of Carrollton; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James McDowell, on Jan. 26, 1993; six brothers, two sisters, two granddaughters, and one grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carrollton United Pentecostal Church, with burial in English Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Graham-Dunn Funeral Home in Carrollton from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT today, and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the church.
