Funeral services for Margie Ruth Stallings East will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Pastor Jane Conley officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. East, 98, of Pineville, was born 23 October 1915 in Oak Grove, North Carolina. She passed from this life on Friday, 4 April, 2014 in Pearland, Texas.

Margie was a charter member of Woodland Presbyterian Church, Pineville. She was the Head Dietitian at Louisiana State Hospital, Pineville prior to her retirement. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Meredith College, Raleigh, NC, also furthering her education she attended University of North Carolina, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC and received her Masters from LA Tech University, Ruston. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Margie enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great-grand children, feeding and watching birds. She was a passionate gardener and enjoyed hours of reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Richard East; son, Paul Edmund East; daughter, Frances Virginia East, six brothers, Wallace Stallings, Maurice Stallings, Riley Stallings, Maynard Stallings, Roy Stallings & DH Stallings Jr. all of North Carolina; four sister-in-laws, Ruth Stallings, Juanita Stallings, Jessie Stallings & Wyona Stallings all of North Carolina; and son-in-law, Larry Douglas Brown, Sealy, Texas.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard East, Jr. and wife, Nancy, Richmond, Texas; daughters, Nancy East Butterfield, Yorktown Virginia; Pamela East, Houston, Texas; and Ellen East Brown, Sealy, Texas; Seven grandchildren; Jay E. Butterfield and wife Sami, Virginia, Cathi Butterfield McKee, Friendswood, Texas, Scott Butterfield, Virginia, Lisa K. Brown Gotte and husband BJ, Katy, Texas, Jenna L Brown, Richmond, Texas, Robert Kelly, Charles Kelly and wife Miranda. Seven great grandchildren; Chelsea Butterfield Avery, Hudson Butterfield, Devon Butterfield, Dawson, Skyler and Shelby McKee, Keegan and Gavin Gotte and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be some of Margie's dearest friends; Rick Farrar, Buster Epps, Todd Farrar, Mark Thiels, Lou Rackett and Wyatt Thiels.

Memorials may be made to Habitats for Humanities, BARKS or Woodland Presbyterian Church, Pineville.
