DR. JOHN N. Johnson DIES AT GOLDSBORO
Funeral Services for Prominent Dentist To Be Held Today at 4 p. m.
Goldsboro, Dec. 2-Dr. John Norborn Johnson, 74, Goldsboro dentist, died in Goldsboro Hospital at 5:45 p.m. today, following two years of declining health.
Funeral services will be heid Tuesday at 4 p.m, from St. Stephens Episcopal Church, with the Rev. John C. Grainger, rector, officiating Burial will be in Wollow Dale cemetery.
He was first married to Lily Belle Newbury of Magnolia. A second marriage was to Ruth E. Knowlton of New Haven, Conn., who survives with the following children.
Mrs. Sam Britt of Goldsboro, Mrs Redmond P. Dortch of Manopla Cuba, Mrs. Allen B. McMillan of Fayetteville, Mrs. James E. Dufty of Guatemala City, Guatemala: five grandchildren; one brother, Rivers D. Johnson, Sr. of Warsaw; three sisters, Mrs. Luther A. Beasley of Kenansville, Mrs. Herbert D. Smith of Warsaw, Mrs. John H. Land of Chadbourn and a number of niece: and nephews.
An only son, Lt. Commander Seymour Anderson Johnson was killed on duty as a test pilot on March 5, 1945, Seymour Johnson Field was named in his honor.
Dr. Johnson has practiced since 1899 when he received his degree from the University of Maryland. and won an honorary degree fellow of the American College of Dentists He was staff member of Goldsboro Hospital
and Spicer Sanatorium,president of the N. C. Dental So-ciety. 1918 19. member of Fifth District Medical Advisory Board, 1917-18 and authorized «dental examiner
1917-18, and a former vice president of the State Board of Health Born in Louisa County, Va., son of the late Seymour Anderson and Annie Eliza Clark Johnson.
