A former executive secretary for the Christian County TB Board, she lived most of her life in the Stonington area.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, charter member of the Christian County Home Extension, a 4-H leader, member of the Red Cross board, County Health Improvement Association, Profit and Pleasure Club of Stonington, Garden Club and County Rural Chorus.
She was chairperson of Christmas Seals sales for Lincolnland Lung Association and Easter Seals Society of Decatur and Christian County.
She married Bruce W. Briggs on June 24, 1915, in Edinburg.
Survivors; son, Louis F. Briggs and wife Beatrice; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Irma Louise) Thorpe of West Allis, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Inez Hurelbrink of Stonington; Cleta Hurelbrink of Edinburg.
Preceded by; husband, Bruce; two daughters, Elinor Greef and Mildred Briggs; one son, Darrell Briggs; three brothers, Carl, Alfred, and Arthur Hurelbrink, and two sisters, Ada Younker and Henrietta Hurelbrink.
