On September 25th, our sweet Heather died of heart failure after six years of illness. From the combination of a heart defect at birth, chronic pain, sustained declining health and the prolonged pharmaceutical treatments, her heart finally gave up. We had forgotten about the heart defect she was born with and none of us thought that her days were so limited.

Be assured that the continual outpouring of love, support, encouragement, prayers, and tributes paid to our dear Heather are providing a safe harbor for us as we weather the storms of grief that rage from every side. Please know that we are sustained by your presence in our lives.

Heather has left her precious children, Chiana (2 years old) and Zdenek (6 years old) in trust to us. We are creating, and will continue to maintain a living history of Heather's life as a gift to her two young children who will come to understand her over the coming years through the eyes and hearts of those who knew and valued her.

Heather is nestled peacefully in the beauty of the woods in the North San Juan Cemetery on School St. To visit, follow the paved path to where it ends. Look to the right and find her peacefully resting under the shade of three beautiful tall cedar trees. In time, we will enjoy beautiful wildflowers and bulbs that the children continue to plant.

We are comforted by the acknowledgement, expressed in our religious Writings, that the loss is really too much to ask us to bear. In addressing a grieving mother, ‘Abdu'l-Bahá said, "O thou beloved maidservant of God, although the loss of a child is indeed heart-breaking and beyond the limits of human endurance, yet one who knoweth and understandeth is assured that the child hath not been lost but, rather, hath stepped from this world into another, and she will find him in the divine realm. That reunion shall be for eternity, while in this world separation is inevitable and bringeth with it a burning grief."

We thank you, each one alone, and all together, for being a part of our family community, for grieving with us and for celebrating the joy of having known Heather. Most of all, we thank you for carrying on the beauty of Heather's spirit in every act of love you shower upon those closest to you.
