Obituary
Dr. N. B. Atty, 83, Osteopath, Dies.
Dean of Profession Was Longmeadow Resident.
Dr. Norman B. Atty, 83, of 173 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, dean of the osteopathic profession in Springfield, died Saturday after a short illness. He had been retired for some years.
Born in Minneapolis, Minn., son of John H. and Adeline (Nichols) Atty, he graduated from the Minneapolis High School, the University of Minnesota and the Northern Institute of Osteopathy, now combined with the Kirksville College of Osteopathy.
Leaving Minneapolis in 1899, he practiced for two years at Frafton and Grand Forks, N.D. and then went to Seattle, Wash., where he spent an additional two years. In 1904 he came to Springfield and established offices at 31 Elm St. During nearly a half-century of professional service, Dr. Atty had attended thousands of patients and became widely known.
Dr. Atty leaves no relatives. His wife, Nettie E. Porter Atty, died some years ago, and a step-son, Dr. Thomas L. Monteith, succumbed two months ago.
A member of Roswell Lee Lodge, Knight Templars and Melba Temple Shriners, Dr. Atty was a 32d degree Mason
The funeral will be held at the Dickinson-Streeter funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with an organ prelude at 10:30. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m..
