Kaleb Sheridan Konek, 19, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:04 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita, KS, surrounded by his family.

Kaleb was born on September 1, 1994, to Randy and Nancey Konek of Pittsburg, KS.

He attended Pittsburg Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School.

His activities included: Karate, Skating, Camping, Hunting, Tennis, Soccer, and Marching Band. He was also a member of the Kansas All Star Masonic Marching Band. He was previously employed by Dillon's and was currently employed by Lowe's Skateway, and also a member of the Second Wind Racing Team pit crew.

Kaleb was known to be a bit of a prankster, he brightened the lives of those around him. He was charismatic, generous, and always willing to help others even in the most inconvenient times. His positive attitude always helped others through the toughest of times. His trademark purple bandana and sunglasses has touched countless lives, along with his personality and friendship. Others will continue to be touched by Kaleb through his donation of organs and tissue. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family.

Survivors include his parents, Randy and Nancey Konek, a brother, Kam Konek, a grandmother, Mary Lou Konek of Pittsburg, KS, cousins, Luke Nettels of Chicago, IL, Jayde Nettels, Jason, Charlay, and Phoebe Goff of Elkins, AR. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray Konek, and his aunt, Mary Anne Konek.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday (Mar. 31) at the First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg with Father Thomas Stroot officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brenner Mortuary to sign the register. The family suggests memorials to the Pittsburg USD #250 Foundation Tennis Court Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Following the services, Kaleb will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
