Barry lived his life to the fullest and was a teacher to many. He was an avid golfer and was known to bowl a 300 game. Barry married the love of his life, Sandy Metzger, on November 5, 1977 and they spent many years raising children and learning from each other. As a young boy, Barry was known to coordinate and control baseball games with the brothers. He was the first president of the Nomads Car Club in Sheridan in 1969. Barry joined the Navy and was stationed in Honolulu on a submarine base from 1969-72.
As a lover of the Lord, Barry enrolled in the Bilatt Theological Seminary to continue his divinity studies. He led many to deepen their faith and was honored to preside over the weddings of three of his children.
Preceded in death by his parents, Emil Ellsworth Benth Sr. and Helen Francis Hartford Benth, and son, Barry Jr. Survived by his brothers Emil E (Linda) Benth Jr, Steven C Benth and Joel D (Lynne) Benth and children Rachel (Clarence) Webb, Margaret (Eric) Ford, Barant Jacob (Wren) Benth and Chelsey (Paul) Christensen. Grandchildren include Cherise, Natalie, Breanne, Holli Rose, Destiny, Brittney, Gabriel and Odin. Great granddaughter Scarlette Lynn.
Viewing Thursday, March 26 at 4 pm, funeral Friday, March 27 at 5 pm at Holy Trinity Old Catholic Church in Canby OR. Memorial service to be held in Sheridan during summer months, details to be announced.
