NEWTON - Geneva W. Jarrett, 88, of Hickory-Lincolnton Highway, died Sept. 2, 1988 at
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Born Jan. 29, 1910 in Cherokee, County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Edmond
and Corrie Lee Wilson White. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, she retired from the
textile industry and was a former manager of the lunch room of Blackburn Elementary
School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Jarrett; a sister, Mamie Schronce
Black; five brothers, Jesse White, Brady White, Herman White, Manley White and Virgil
White.

Survivors include five sons, James E. Jarrett, Franklin Jarrett and Clyde Jarrett Jr. of
Newton, and Gene Jarrett and Harold Jarrett of Conover; a daughter, Martha Johnson
of Newton; two brothers, Ervin White of Charlotte and Hoyle White of Concord; three
sisters, Oveda Blackburn, Lucille Whisnant and Thelma Heavner of Newton; nine grand-
children; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchild-
ren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Larry Yoder at 11 a.m. Saturday at her church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Jarrett, Don Jarrett, Greg Jarrett, Chris Jarrett, Jeffery Bivens and
Kurt Inman.

The family will be at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home from 6 to 8 tonight.
