Gary Elton Abbott was born March 15, 1947 to Elton and Opal Abbott in Helena, Arkansas. He departed this life Friday, March 21, 2014 at his Bristow residence at the age of 67 years, and 6 days.

He moved to Bristow in 1999 from Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Army almost 12 years receiving his honorable discharge in 1977.

On January 10, 1966 Gary Elton Abbott and Linda Smith were united in marriage. From this union were born three daughters.

He was involved in many organizations including the American Legion post 126, Veterans helping Veterans, and the Coalition of Christian Cowboys. He loved trail riding, horses, welding and eating breakfast with his fellow veterans every Wednesday.
