His funeral will be conducted at 3:30 Tuesday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Williams. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Cannon was a lifelong residence of the Chicod Community. He was employed in the maintenance Department of the Pitt County Courthouse for several years and retired from Union Carbide in 1996 after 14 years of service.
Surviving are his Nellie Hardy Cannon, three son, Jack Cannon Sr. and David Earl Cannon both of Ayden, and Michael Cannon of Winterville, three Daughters Evon McCoy, Shirley Scott and Susan Cannon all of Greenville; three sisters Sarah Jane Barrow of Snow Hill and Verna Burroughs and Pearlie Louise Strickland both of Greenville, a brother Tom Cannon of Grimesland and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Monday.
His cause of death was a Brain tumor.
