Alexander Hamilton “Bud” Aldrich III passed away at the age of 76 at the Washoe Medical Center. He was born to Alexander and Marie Irigaray Aldrich II. He was raised in Fernley and graduated from Fernley High School, where he excelled in basketball. He also attended the University of Nevada in Reno. Bud lived in Yerington from 1952-1965, resided in Elko from 1984-1995, and then moved back to Fernley in 1995. And in 1999, he moved to Reno. Alex worked as a Mine Inspector for the State of Nevada for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Fernley, State Mining Inspectors Association, National Mine Safety Organization, Fernley Volunteer Fire Department, 2030 Young Men’s Club and was a past Round Mountain Fire Chief. His parents; sister Beatrice Gaaserude; and half-brother, General Eugene Salet, preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Alexander Aldrich IV and William “Bill” Aldrich, both of Reno; daughter, Sheila, Ann (James) Hill of Yerington, NV; two sisters, Marie (Jack) Dieringer of Reno and Catherine Stoddard of Ogden, UT. Three grandchildren, Bridget, Jimmy and Stacy; and four great-grandchildren, Darian, Zack, Dylan and Cody, also survive him.
