Edith Irene Bott Brannon, age 88, went to be with the Lord and reunited with her family Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 12, 1926, in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Garland and Vesta Bott. She lived her entire life in Washington County, worked at several restaurants in the area, and retired from the Snack Bar at Johnston Memorial Hospital after many years of service. She was a loving and sharing mother and grandmother who loved everyone and never met a stranger. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, Virginia.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brannon; two sons, Roger Brannon and Donald Brannon; daughter-in-law, Shirley Brannon; and one brother, David Bott.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Coffield and husband Leo of Bristol, Virginia; one adopted daughter, Patty Brannon of Statesville, North Carolina; one sister, Carolyn McVey of Meadowview, Virginia; one brother, James Botts and wife Lois of Abingdon, Virginia; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; several very special nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 3:00 P.M. at the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. Ethan Cook officiating. The burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Mausoleum from 2:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Gary McVey, Allen McVey, Oliver Mullins, Travis Roland, Bob Eades, and Leo Coffield. The family suggests that memorials be in the form of contributions to Victory Baptist Church, 11101 Island Road, Bristol, Virginia 24202, or to Greendale Chapel, P. O. Box 1314, Abingdon, Virginia 24212.
