He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esperanza Berain Aguirre, sons, Lionel Aguirre and wife Lena, Fermin Aguirre and wife Lorena, Raul Aguirre and wife Linda, Rolando Aguirre, daughter, Elma Aguirre Rodriguez and husband Joaquin L. Rodriguez, brothers, Simon Aguirre, Humberto Aguirre, sisters, Amalia Aguirre Renovato, Clarita Aguirre Calderon, grandchildren, Claudia A. Rodriguez, Amanda A. Rodriguez, Cristina Aguirre, Raul Aguirre, Andrea Aguirre, Lionel Aguirre, Fermin Aguirre IV, Lorena Avalos, Raul Avalos, Guillermo Aguirre and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance with a Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday afternoon, December 9, 2005 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment followed at San Felipe Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 Bedell Ave Del Rio, Texas 78840.
