The son of Morris Short and Ethel Bouton Short, he was born on Dec. 26, 1913, in Apalachin, N.Y.
He married Dorothy Dow on Aug. 7, 1948, in Springfield, Pa.
He served in the Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Mr. Short worked as a driver for Ready-Mix and dispatcher for Barney & Dickinson for more than 30 years. "Harold was a family man and a people person who enjoyed morning coffee with friends, reading and doing yard work," his family said.
Survivors include his wife of Longmont; three sons, Robert Short of Greene, N.Y., Craig R. Short of Lafayette and Tim Short of Longmont; two sisters, Gladys Jewell of Bath, N.Y., and Delores Luciani of Liverpool, N.Y.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
