Gerard R. Abad passed away peacefully on March 9, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Wilmington, DE.

Born in the Philippines, he was one of 12 children. He attended and graduated from the Philippine Military Academy. He fought in WWII as a colonel in the Philippine military for the United State. Later, Gerard as a federal civilian employee, was a Supervising Civil Engineer at the United States Naval Base in Philadelphia. He was licensed in few states and excelled in his profession.

Gerard was preceded in death by his second wife Mary (Leonie) Abad and survived by their children David Abad, Joanna Abad, his son in law James E. Jamison Jr and granddaughter Bailey M. Jamison . In addition, he is survived by his first wife Esperanza Albertson and their children Robert Abad, Emilie Abad Bets, Nanette Murakoshi, Gerardo Abad Jr. and their respective families.

Friends may call on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naaman's Road, Wilm., DE 19810 where a Mass of Catholic Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery.
