Marian Amanda Fielding, 81, of Amherst, died Sunday, March 9, 2014. Born in Roseland, July 19, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John and Zoe Reese Wright.

She was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Amherst, where she valued her church friends and involvement. Amanda was a member of the Amherst Women's Club and enjoyed numerous other social activities. She had attended Longwood University for two years and was a member of the Zeta Tau sorority. She was a much loved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

She is survived by her sons, John Clarence Fielding and his wife, Lynne, of Roseland, and Charles Eugene "Chuck" Fielding and his wife, Dana, of Houston, TX; her brother, John Howard Wright and his wife, Shirley, of Amherst; her sister, Emma Goodwin and her husband, Nelson, of Arrington; her sister-in- law, Grace Mahone and her husband, David of Charlottesville; two grandchildren, Morgan Fielding, and Jack Fielding; numerous nieces, nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Eugene Fielding "Gene"; and a brother, William Wright "Bill" and his wife, Carolyn.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Roseland by the Rev. Ed Childress and the Rev. Nancy Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Byrum-Parr Funeral Home is serving the family.
