Doyle Lamar Carlan, age 78 of Gainesville, GA died September 27, 2007. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Carlan in 1955.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Era Carlan; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Bush of Lilburn; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Laura Carlan of Dacula; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Chane Hazelett of Atlanta, Christian and Kim Jaynes of Madison, Whitney and Jimmy Phillips of Hazelgreen, AL; great grandchildren, Dylan, Griffin and Cali Rose Jaynes; brother, Billy Carlan of Stockbridge; sisters, Clara and Paul Duffey of Rex, GA, Marie and Bob Rice of Cypress, CA.

Mr. Carlan was retired from Roadway Express. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Gainesville and formerly attended Clifton United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and outdoor projects that involved playing in the dirt and helping others.

Mr. Carlan was a loving and caring man. His greatest joy was to see his family exceed in life and was a very proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept 29 at 2pm at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Susan Martin Taylor officiating. Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12noon until service time, at the funeral home.
