Marsha Regina Auls Grand Rapids Marsha Regina Auls, 49, Grand Rapids, departed this earthly life on February 24, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Marshall and Bessie (Harden) Auls. Born in Lansing, Marsha was christened and baptized at Friendship Baptist Church, where, as a teenager, she was a tutor, pianist for the children's choir and a Sunday school teacher. She graduated as class president from J. W. Sexton High School in 1982. In 1986, she received a degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame. There, Marsha served as president of the Black Cultural Arts Center, sang with the Voices of Faith gospel choir, played flag football, and supported the Fighting Irish as one of their most ardent fans. After moving to Grand Rapids to work for Westinghouse Furniture Systems, Marsha joined and tutored at New Hope Baptist Church and worked in the Academic Excellence and Senior ministries, the Summer Blast program and on the Decorating Committee. Marsha also served as a former vice president of the Greater Grand Rapids NAACP and a volunteer with Junior Achievement. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 2912 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lansing. Contributions may be made on behalf of Marsha to the Friendship Baptist Church Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
