Mrs. Aiken was born October 30, 1931, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. Iris was a retiree of GTE Telephone Co. and enjoyed family gatherings, church, flowers, anything with color, and taking pictures. She delighted in mentoring children. Iris was the daughter of the late Stanley W. and Zeffra Hyatt Bradley and wife of the late Charles Glen Aiken who died in 2009. Mrs. Aiken was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lane, Ewell, and Frank Bradley; and sisters, Nell Kuykendall and Myrtle Maney.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet A. Liberatore and husband Ernest Liberatore, Jr. of Herndon, VA; son, Stanley E. Aiken and wife Jeannie C. Aiken of Jefferson, GA; brother, John T. Bradley of Asheville; and seven grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Alexander Chapel United Methodist Church, with Revs. Marjory and Ray Kiess officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
