Francis joined the U.S. Navy on January 15, 1942, and was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Chicago; daughters Susan, Arlene, Rita and Norma Jean all of Chicago; parents William T. and Cleo Branson of Fortuna; sisters, Mrs. Rose Thornock of Sage, Wyoming; Mrs. Velda Abrahamson of Rohnerville; Mrs. Norma Gomes of Ferndale; Mrs. Elva Gracey of Fernbridge; brothers, Arlon Branson of Eureka; Darrell Branson of Rohnerville, and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 27, 1 p.m. at funeral home, 301 S. 5th Avenue at Maple Street, Maywood. Interment Beverly Cemetery.

My Uncle Francis was the first of seven children born to William Thomas and Cleo Pearl (Hoopes) Branson.
My husband and I were fortunate to get to Chicago on our vacation in April 2015 and pay our respects to him.
