Ms. Gladys Viola Gibson, age 84 of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Rollins officiating. She was laid to rest at the Holloway Cemetery in Whitley City.

Ms. Gibson was born on August 24, 1923, to the late James and Louise Vanover Hansford. She had worked as a cook for several years and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and working with her flowers.

Surviving family include three children: Angie Darlene (and Ricky) Bennett of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Roland (and Joan) Hughes of Pine Knot and Missy (and Stanley) Sage of Mitchell, Indiana. She has one surviving sister, Angeline Keith of Oneida, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents James and Louise Hansford, sister and brothers Ollie, Cory, and William (Bill) Vanover, John, Carl, Burt, Eugene and Tate Hansford, and an infant daughter Gloria Lynn.
