Paul F. Pickette Was Member of Several Clubs Here


Paul F. Pickette, past chairman of the Washington State Racing Commission, died last night at Sacred Heart Hospital following an illness of several months.

Born in Williamsport, Pa., he spent his early life in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and as a young man worked as sales manager for the National Cash Register Company in Milwaukee and Minneapolis. He later joined the Modern Appliance Company in Seattle as sales manager in charge of operations in China and Japan.

He married the former Irene Glynn in Seattle and they moved to Spokane in 1924. He obtained the Frigidaire Corporation distribution franchise here in 1925 and continued in that line until his retirement about 10 years ago.

Mr. Pickette served two terms as chairman of the state racing commission. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps in World War I.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral Parish, past president of the Spokane Central Lions Club, a member of the Spokane Club and the Spokane Country Club, charter member of the Athletic Round Table, Early Birds' Breakfast Club and the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.

Survivors include his widow, at the home, W1905 Second; a son, Paul G. of Spokane; two daughters, Mrs. C.H. Monroe of Seattle and Miss Patricia Pickette of the home; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be announced by Hennessey Funeral Home.
