Dr. David Marine Abbott, died Jan. 19, 2014, at the Chester County Hospital. Dr. Abbott was born in Mt. Holly, N.J., the son of David M. Abbott and Jayne Page Abbott. He grew up in Levittown. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1967 and later from Temple Medical School. He spent 35 years practicing psychiatry in Honolulu, Hawaii, treating people with substance addictions and mental illness. Dr. Abbott moved back to PA in 2002 and continued to practice psychiatry there. He was the much loved partner of Harriette A. Hubbard with whom he shared a home in Downingtown. Dr. Abbott is survived by two daughters, Lara, of Springfield, Ore., and Ashley Abbott Mercado (Alistair), of Westminster, Calif. David will be deeply missed by his brother Courtney, of Eugene, Ore.; and his sisters, Marcia Binns (George) of Falls Church, Va., and Barbara Malmsjo (Albert) of Windermere, Fla. David followed with great interest the activities, travels, and transitions of the Hubbard and Mathern families, especially those of his adopted grandchildren, Danielle and Joshua Mathern of Las Vegas, Nev., and his nieces and nephews. In Dr. Abbott's memory, donations to NAMI would be appreciated.
