Dr. Lee R. Kjelson, a native of Stromsburg, passed away at his home in Coral Gables, FL on May 4, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Richard Kjelson of Placerville, CA.
Dr. Kjelson, Professor Emeritus, Frost School of Music was Director of Choral Activities at the University of Miami from 1967-1993. He leaves a legacy of excellence in the professional field of choral music, having conducted and taught throughout the world.
"Doc" has touched each one of us in his own unique way, striving for excellence, professionalism and dedication to music throughout his career. We will miss his compassion, devotion, and limitless energy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 16, 2009 at Coral Gables Congregational Church in Coral Gables, FL.
